Guide Review - Toshiba Satellite M35-S349

11/19/04 - Toshiba's Satellite line of notebooks is one of the oldest on the market. The Satellite M series of notebooks is their wide screen thin and light models, such as a the M35-S349.

Powering the Satellite M35-S349 is the Intel Pentium M 735 (1.7GHz) processor. This provides the Satellite M35 with a high level of performance without draining the batteries heavily. The CPU is matched up with 512MB of PC2700 DDR memory to allow it to run most applications without any problem.

Storage is the strong suit of the Satellite M35-S349. Internal storage is provided through a very large 80GB hard drive. Optical storage is handled by a 4x multiformat DVD burner. This allows the M35-S349 to handle both recording and playback of CD and DVD media. In addition to this, the M35-S349 also has a 5-in-1 flash card reader to support the most common forms or digital flash cards.

Graphics for the M35-S349 is provided by a 15.4" wide screen lCD panel. This wide format LCD is very good for watching DVD movies on or for additional space for desktop applications. Unforatuntely, the M35-S349 only uses the Intel Extreme 2 integrated graphics. This limits the M35-S349 3D graphcis ability.

Overall, the Toshiba Satellite M35-S349 is a very good option for those with a need for a wide variety of storage options. The system can even handle some video editing abilities, but a memory upgrade is highly recommended.
